Memorial Day is here, and with it, our first taste of the coming summer. We've compiled a mix of our favorite summer jams released so far this year, to perfectly soundtrack your frosé feuled pool or beach parties this Memorial Day weekend.

1. Say My Name - Tove Styrke
Kiddo was one of our favorite albums of 2015, and we've been eagerly awaiting Tove's follow up. "Say My Name" is our first taste of what is to come, and it has been well worth the wait. Pulling the production levels back, she sings over a strong bass line with sticky sweet pop melodies. At times, it is reminiscent of Britney Spears' early singles with just enough edgy yet effortless coolness to support pulling off one of 2017's best lyrics "Wear it out like a sweater that you love cause you can't get enough". We certainly will be wearing this track out all summer long!
2. Next To Me - Marlene
We've been following Marlene's career from the beginning (one of us had the pleasure of seeing her perform at a food truck festival in Stockholm) and her Indian Summer EP remains one of the best debut EPs we've heard in awhile. The past year and a half has seen her slowly releasing tracks building up to her soon to be released EP Sweet. "Next To Me" just sounds like it was made for driving down the Southern California coast with the top down and singing as loud as you can, before stopping to bop around on a boardwalk and eat some salt water taffy. And that spoken word in the bridge?! Perhaps the best spoken word middle 8 since Robyn's "Be Mine!"
3. Beautiful Life - The Sound of Arrows
If "Next To Me" is for soundtracking your drive down the coast, "Beautiful Life" sounds like diving into the cool depths of a technicolor ocean. The first new music we've had from The Sound of Arrows since their dreamy, synthpop epic Voyage in 2012, "Beautiful Life" sounds a bit like a princely counterpart to ABBA's "Dancing Queen" covered by Backstreet Boys with some of TSOA's signature cinematic soundscapes to beef it up for 2017. A refreshing sip of what's to come...
4. Say You Do - Tei Shi
We love Tei Shi's debut record, Crawl Space, and the varied and eclectic mix of indie pop she is serving. But this pure pop moment is strangely giving us Wonder Girls kpop "I Feel You"-esque realness meets '80s era Prince with a dash of Carly Rae's E•MO•TIONal masterpiece. Shimmery pop perfection.
5. Bon Appetit (MUNA Remix) - Katy Perry
From "Chained to the Rhythm" to "Bon Appetit" to "Swish Swish", Katy Perry's latest club ready diss track, we're eating everything she is serving, BISH! One of our favorite albums of this year was MUNA's debut, and here we find them remixing Bon Appetit into perfected synth pop sadness. The MUNA mix somehow turns Perry's raunchy lyrics into cries of longing to be touch by her lover, and it doesn't sound too far off from the longing heard in MUNA's own Robyn channeling music.
6. Cut To The Feeling - Carly Rae Jepsen
Thank goodness for procrastination. Right when I was about to push publish on this little write up, I received word that Carly SLAY Jepsen's new single "Cut To The Feeling" will be released tomorrow. Previously hearing a cam rip from the animated ballet film it soundtracks, it is sure to be on repeat the entire blessed holiday weekend. Beginning with what sounds like a "Lucky Star" Madonna sample, Carly serves us E•MO•TIONal vocals while taking us to DE•VO•TION. If this was passed on for both E•MO•TION and E•MO•TION Side B to be relegated to an animated film soundtrack, we'd be happy to have Carly release the leftovers from her E•MO•TION recording sessions until the end of time. Pop Perfection!
